Beliefs
- We believe writing is hard
- We believe writing about an idea is the first step towards understanding.
- We believe it’s better to write something untidy unpolished and raw than to write nothing at all.
This is the way:
- Share links only with someone you know, and only directly to the post.
- Write in such a way that you don’t worry about scruffyness, but write about things you care about
- We write under pseudonyms to remove any barrier to writing that would come from embarrassment.
Principles
- Before all things, write
- Don’t stop writing because of how it sounds
- Don’t stop writing because of how it reads
- Don’t stop writing because you’re unsure of your point. It may come. It may not.
- The finish work is for elsewhere. Here, we write to get ideas out of our heads, into words so we can look at them, and evaluate.
- Writing is hard. It’s better to try and fail, than to wait for the perfect words.
- Getting started is the hardest part. Often we’ll avoid starting because we can’t get the right words out.
